VANDALS caught damaging bowling greens will be prosecuted, Ferryhill Town Council has warned.

The greens in Dean Bank Park have become a favourite spot for youths playing football. But they have caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage, which is so severe that the greens may not be playable in time for the start of the bowling season.

Jamie Corrigan, executive officer at Ferryhill Town Council, said security cameras were now trained on the bowling green all the time.

He said: "Anyone we do catch there will be prosecuted for the damage caused and the parents will be liable for that."
