ARMY cadets from around County Durham will have to make sure they look their best when they meet top brass at a military training weekend.
More than 140 members of C Company Durham Army Cadet Force, under the command of Major Brian Kitching, will move to Stainton Camp, near Barnard Castle, on Friday, to begin a challenging weekend of military activities.
Youngsters aged 13 to 18 from Coxhoe, Durham, Horden, Houghton-le-Spring, Seaham, Shiney Row and Ushaw Moor Light Infantry detachments, and Wingate Light Dragoons detachment, will be involved in the largest movement of cadets since their annual camp last August.
Their visit will include an opportunity to meet the top regular Army military commander in the area, Brigadier David Shaw, officer commanding 15 Brigade, at York.
Captain Alison Twinn, second in command of C Company, said: "This is a two-fold opportunity for the cadets, to meet such a high-ranking officer and the chance for C Company to work together at full company strength."
Durham Army Cadet Force is looking for enthusiastic cadets to train for this year's annual camp at Otterburn and adults to join the team of instructors.
No experience is necessary, because on the job training will be given.
