THEATRE managers have confirmed that a touring play will come to Darlington Civic Theatre as planned, despite the sudden death of lead actor Adam Faith.

Actor Leslie Grantham, best known as Eastenders' star Dirty Den, has stepped into the main role in Donald Churchill's play Love and Marriage.

Mr Faith, the Sixties pop star who went on to become a successful actor and TV presenter, died after appearing in the comedy in Stoke, Staffordshire, the week before last. He had suffered a heart attack after the Friday performance and died hours later.

His death led to fears that a five-day run of Love and Marriage at the Civc next week would have to be cancelled.

But after Mr Grantham agreed to step into the part of Bill, the Civic announced the show would go ahead.

It opens on Tuesday and runs nightly at 7.30pm until Saturday. Details and tickets from the box office on (01325) 486555.
