TWO North-East organisations have won national awards for their efforts to combat workplace stress as part of the European Week for Safety and Health campaign.

Procter and Gamble Technical Centres, of Longbenton, Newcastle, and the County Durham and Darlington Priority Services NHS Trust were among 26 organisations across the country to receive awards for helping their staff reduce stress.

TRIBUTE CONCERT: Think Floyd, now in their eighth year of performing tributes to Pink Floyd, will appear at the Empire Theatre, in Sunderland, at 7.30pm tonight as part of their Toys in the Attic UK tour. The band will present music from the Pink Floyd album The Wall, along with other hits. Tickets are available from the box office on 0191-514 2517.

CHURCH RE-BUILDING: Adrian Rogers will give a slideshow and talk on the re-building and restoration of St Brandon's Church, Brancepeth, near Durham, damaged by a fire in 1998. It will take place in the Appleby Rooms, at St Oswald's Institute, Church Street, Durham, on Wednesday, at 7.30pm.

FARMING MEETING: North-East MEP Dr Gordon Adam has met Douglas Chalmers, of the Country Land and Business Association, to discuss EU sheep tagging proposals. They met at Burn Farm, Willington, County Durham, this week to consider the welfare aspects of tagging lambs and sheep.

MAN FOUND: Arthur Brown, 63, who went missing from his home in Lancaster Hill, Acre Rigg, Peterlee, on Tuesday, has been found safe and well. He was seen in Sunderland, and was taken to the city's Gilbridge police station.

SOUL SHOW: Soul performer Ola Onabule will appear at Darlington Arts Centre on Friday, April 4, at 8pm. Tickets are £8, available on (01325) 486555.
