A man died today and his wife was seriously injured in a blaze at their North-East home.
Fire fighters were called to the house in West View, Great Stainton, early this morning.
A spokesman said a man died in the blaze and his wife was taken to hospital.
Darlington Police said there were no suspicious circumstances.
Fire brigade experts are now going through the house in a bid to piece together how the blaze began.
