ANOTHER 43 policemen are joining the beat across Teesside as the result of restructuring.
They will join Cleveland Police community policing teams during the coming financial year.
The shake-up will also produce two new five-strong task force teams in Hartlepool and Langbaurgh, among other measures, backed up by 60 community support officers.
A report on the proposals will be discussed by members of the Cleveland Police Authority today.
Chairman Councillor Ken Walker said: "The Force Change programme has been developed to help ensure that we have an organisation which is effective, efficient and flexible enough to meet the challenges of modern policing.
"As this report illustrates, it is delivering real benefits in terms of extra officers for front line policing and directing resources to key issues such as improving the way the Force responds to calls and incidents, targeting the drugs trade - and making use of new technologies such as automatic number plate recognition which can identify vehicles being used for criminal purposes."
