A burger van has been ordered to move from outside Longfield Comprehensive School, in Darlington, after the borough council received complaints about sales of food to pupils during school hours.

A council spokesman said the van operator had not been given permission to trade outside the school.

TRAINING SUCCESS: Durham county councillor John Shuttleworth presented North-East Open College Network certificates to 11 Weardale people at an event to celebrate learning achievement. Winners have completed a training programme giving them the skills and knowledge to run community enterprises providing employment, training and opportunities for volunteers.

FUNFAIR: Carnival Funfairs set up fairground rides and galleries in the working men's club car park in Leeholme yesterday. They will be open from 6pm to 8.30pm tonight and Friday, but not on Saturday.
