THIRTY years after the original film shocked 1960s cinema-goers, Anthony Burgess' violent tale A Clockwork Orange is being staged in County Durham next week.

The Snap Theatre Company is taking its all-female version of the controversial classic to the stage of Bishop Auckland Town Hall on Monday.

Dianne Hancock directs the latest adaptation of the book, using subliminal video images, a highly imaginative set.

The deep throbbing garage music soundtrack will also help to chart the brutal exploits of a young rebellious street gang and their charismatic leader, Alex.
