A COUNCIL'S revamped website with customised pages and tailored links has climbed up the ratings in a national survey.

The new-look site, which was launched four months ago by Hambleton District Council, has improved the ranking given to it by members of the Society of IT Managers. The improvements have led to the rise from C rating for good content to a C+ rating in the annual survey of local authority websites.

MURDER MYSTERY: A top jockey was murdered by a member of the Richmond Soroptimists - but it was all in a good cause. Members of the business women's organisation arranged a murder mystery evening to raise money for children orphaned by AIDS in South Africa. The plot involved a party held by the owner of a Derby winner. The event raised more than £1,000.
