HARTLEPOOL UNITED are not expected to make any 11th hour signings on transfer deadline day today.

The Third Division pacesetters are confident they have enough players within their title-chasing squad for the remaining seven games of the season.

Assistant manager Kevin Sheedy said last night: "You can never rule anything out, but we are happy with the players we have at our disposal."

Pool play third-placed Bournemouth at Victoria Park on Saturday and know victory will improve their strong chances of claiming the League crown.

But after two straight defeats, manager Mike Newell is likely to make at least one change to the side which lost 1-0 at lowly Bristol Rovers last weekend.

And after Pool's reserves' 1-0 success over Boston United yesterday, a few names will have put their names in contention for a place. Gordon Watson, who is yet to start a first team game since September 14 when he broke his leg, was the goalscorer against the Pigrims and created a number of chances for himself.

Watson struck a sweet second-half volley after some good work involving the lively Paul Arnison and left-midfielder Paul Smith on the right.

Jon Bass also gave an assured display at the back, while striker Kevin Henderson was substituted early after the restart and could be set to come in up front against the Cherries on Saturday.
