LEISURE chiefs are turning the temperature down at one of the region's Victorian splendours as a six-month restoration programme starts.
Harrogate's famous Turkish Baths will close its doors in September to undergo almost £600,000 worth of refurbishment, including new mosaic flooring and repairs to the ornate woodwork.
The project has generated a lot of interest among local history groups and the civic societies.
The new facilities will form part of a programme of educational events and provide a permanent display about the history of the Royal Baths building.
