A £1M scheme to build ten classrooms and information technology facilities is under way at Stockton Sixth Form College.
The two-storey classrooms, which will house the English and maths departments, are expected to be open in September.
The classrooms are part of a programme of improvements.
Martin Clinton, college principal, said: "The new classrooms, which will all have overhead data projectors, will be bright and modern and will, of course, be accessible to students who have a disability.
"This year £400,000 has also been set aside to provide more cutting-edge information technology throughout the college and in the autumn nearly every classroom will have its own overhead data projector."
