MUSICAL groups from across the region will be converging on a school to compete for the chance to showcase their talents on the national stage.
The Regional Festival of Music for Youth is to take place at Eaglescliffe School, Eaglesciffe, near Stockton, Teesside.
More than 30 groups will perform on Saturday and Sunday, in the hope that they will impress enough to be invited to the National Festival, at the Royal Festival Hall, in July.
Previous winners have been invited to London, where they have gone on to perform at the School Proms, at the Royal Albert Hall.
On Saturday morning, groups appearing will include Hallgarth Yangchin Group, Yarm Preparatory School Guitar Trio and Egglescliffe School Orchestra. In the afternoon, Wensleydale School Choir, Ian Ramsey Choirs and Northfield School Swing Band will be appearing.
On Sunday morning, there will be performances from Northallerton College Concert Band, Ripon Grammar School Big Band and Egglescliffe School Brass Band.
In the afternoon, Tees Valley Youth Wind Orchestra and Youth Choir will appear, with the Billingham Recorder Quartet and Teesside High School.
