FOUR schools in Stockton have taken part in a European project.
The Links Primary, Tilery Primary, St Mark's Elm Tree Primary and Ian Ramsey Comprehensive schools have played host to Comenius assistant Marja Wigh from Sweden for the past six weeks.
The Comenius Assistant Scheme, which is part of the Socrates programme, is aimed at raising awareness of other European cultures and helping to break down prejudice in schools and the community.
The scheme was financed after a successful application for Lingua funding from the European Union.
During her stay in Stockton, Marja has taught basic Swedish language skills to the youngsters, as well as exchange cultural differences.
The Links School has also created displays in the main hall featuring students' work with Swedish themes and models displaying traditional dress, as well as providing Swedish cuisine from school cook Lynn Hartill and Stockton Borough Council's catering department.
