FRENCH flier David Bellion insists he still doesn't know where his future lies as the clock runs down on his Sunderland career.

The 20-year-old striker, who rejected a new contract at the Stadium of Light, is available on a Bosman transfer this summer and is being courted by Manchester United and Paris St. Germain.

United and Liverpool met with rebuttals from Sunderland chairman Bob Murray when they made offers for Bellion during January's transfer window.

Sources close to the player maintain that Old Trafford remains his likely destination at the end of the season.

But the speedy Bellion believes he still has much to prove before he makes the grade at the highest level.

"I don't know what is going to happen, I'll just have to wait and see,'' said Bellion, who was signed on a free from Cannes by former boss Peter Reid just over 18 months ago.

"I was flattered, like anyone would be, at the interest shown in me, but I still have work to do as a player.''

Sunderland, bottom of the Premiership and 13 points adrift of safety with only seven games to go, are doomed to relegation.

But Bellion added: "I am happy at Sunderland and want to help the club. Until it is mathematically impossible to stay up, we will not give up.''

Tore Andre Flo has reaffirmed his desire to stay on Wearside, despite the near-certainty of Division One status next season.

But the 29-year-old Norway striker, Sunderland's £8.2m record signing, indicated he would seek a move if the Black Cats failed to bounce back into the top flight at the first attempt.

"I don't feel like moving my family again,'' said Flo. "I am ready to play a season in the First Division to try to get Sunderland back into the Premiership.''

Flo is in Norway's squad to face Luxembourg in their Euro 2004 qualifier next Wednesday, even though he has not scored for his country since 1999.

"I am hoping to get a boost against Luxembourg, that would come in handy right now,'' said Flo, who has scored only four League goals since joining Sunderland from Rangers last August.

"Maybe Luxembourg are opponents that will suit me. Criticism doesn't affect me. Everybody in the Sunderland team is being criticised and, since I cost a lot of money, I have to expect to get my fair share.

''It doesn't feel uncomfortable. I am a footballer when I am in training and in matches, but otherwise the family comes first.''

* Sunderland full-back George McCartney has withdrawn from the Northern Ireland squad for their Euro 2004 qualifier in Armenia this weekend because of personal reasons.

Manager Sammy McIlroy hopes McCartney will be available for the game against Greece at Windsor Park next Wednesday.

And Thomas Butler has been forced to pull out of the Republic of Ireland Under-21s squad for their back-to-back European Championship qualifiers in Georgia and Albania.

The Sunderland midfielder - one of only two players left in the squad with a senior cap to his name - suffered a torn calf muscle in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at West Ham.

* Highly-rated Sunderland striker Keith Graydon has joined York City on a month's loan, where he will link up with his Black Cats teammate Michael Ingham at Bootham Crescent.
