DARLINGTON Mowden Park's under-16 girls' rugby team became North-East champions when they won the regional super 12s tournament at Tynedale last Sunday.
They notched up a total of 80 points without conceding a single point in their four matches, starting with a 27-0 victory over a combined Morpeth/Percy Park team.
They followed up with a 15-0 success against an ever-improving Redcar side before a 7-0 win in their toughest match of the day against Tynedale Panthers.
Mowden continued to produce dazzling rugby to defeat Blyth 31-0 in their last game.
The Mowden try-scorers were Amber Hyde (4), Abby Blackburn (3), Ashleigh Wright (3), Laura Collings (2), Nicola Jackson and Helen Grainge. Amber Hyde also converted five tries to score the most individual points in the competition.
