A MAN who brandished a 12in Samurai-style knife in a pub was jailed for six months, yesterday.
Nikitas James Maikos, 22, admitted three offences, including causing an affray, possessing an offensive weapon and resisting arrest, at Teesside Crown Court.
The court was told that on February 1, Maikos, of Park Lane, Darlington, had gone to the town's Speedwell pub.
After being refused a second drink, he had started banging a beer bottle on the bar. He then went home, returning to the pub with the knife. He was eventually locked out of the pub, but while walking down Victoria Road, Maikos became aggressive and attempted to resist arrest when approached by police officers.
John Constable, defending, said Maikos was ashamed of his behaviour and had gone to the police station to apologise to the officers.
Judge Peter Bowers sentencing Maikos said: "This one evening of madness may have jeopardised your whole future."
