A PUPPY named after Newcastle United and England footballer Jermaine Jenas is in the doghouse after scoffing his owner's season ticket.

JJ the five-month-old Japanese Shiba Inu tucked into the £412 ticket after David Stephenson left it lying on a bedside table.

Computer progammer Mr Stephenson, 24, said: "I could not believe it. I left the book of ticket vouchers in my bedroom after the Newcastle versus Blackburn game and went out. When I came back JJ had chewed it up.

"My mum called me while I was out to say that the dog had got hold of my season ticket and torn one voucher and eaten another.

"Like his name-sake, he's a good dribbler and chews up anyone or anything in his path.

"Some of the tickets are left, but he's managed to get the ticket for the clash against Manchester United."

Mr Stephenson, of Benton, Newcastle, faces having to spend £30 - the administration fee for a new season ticket - to see Newcastle's game against Manchester United.

A spokesperson from Newcastle United said: "A lot of people lose their season tickets and we have heard lots of reasons for fans losing them, but this is very unusual.

"I have never heard of a dog chewing up a ticket before, although once a man needed a new season ticket because his ex-wife tore it up."
