A community project has begun after a £170,000 National Lottery grant.
The Alexander Project, in Redcar, is a housing project established for young single parents in the town by charity Coatham House.
The plan is to provide information and practical and emotional support to young parents, as well as a roof over their heads.
Redcar MP Vera Baird, who has been closely associated with Coatham House and the development of the Alexander Project, said: "Coatham House is an excellent resource for young parents and I am very pleased to see project manager Bridget Collins and her team expanding into this much-needed area of support."
