A capacity entry at the Oaks Sessay filled Maple Lake during Sunday's match and Cleveland Angling Centre rods dominated the top of the scoresheet headed by last week's jackpot winner the Mr Consistent Chris Hawkes.

Fishing into the corner and towards the aerator Chris found corn and pellet equally effective bagging carp after carp off peg 66 to drag a terrific 66.11.0 onto the scales.

Spring like conditions resulted in a move towards pellet baits as fish become more active and Chris Hall reaped the rewards doing just that on Thursday at the Oaks.

At the weekend the first round of the Teesside League got underway split between Kestrel Curlew and Wagtail Lakes.

For the 65 competitors fish were not so keen to feed in any great numbers but nevertheless it proved an exciting opener when every bite counted at the weigh in. Wagtail produced the winner. There was plenty of sport on Raker's Horseshoe Lake and the top two shared nearly 100lbs of fish.

Headingley Angling's Neil Horne long pole and corn attack right across off peg six brought the carp on the feed resulting in 43.7.0 for second place.

Half a dozen carp sealed the second round of the Red Lion Carpvale Spring Series on Cyprio Lake at Moor Monkton.

Andy Gallant of Armley Angling elected to fish the pole and corn after pulling peg 32 out of the bag. Going out to 15 metres Andy located the winning six which totalled 17.10.0.

One carp in an otherwise roach and skimmer net gave Hirst Tackle man Dave Armitage next best when maggot secured 14.12.0 off peg 53.

The Masham N Yorks fishery is not normally noted for heavyweights so Durham's Stan Marr was delighted to grass a big specimen of exactly 10.0.0.

Sport generally resulting in most fish falling to lures as water temperature remains low and frosts and glorious sunny days cancel each other out. 157 visitors totalled 383 - a 2.4 / rod average.

Most successful patterns are Dawson's olive Cat's whisker and orange fritz.

Tunstall Reservoir: Rainbows between 1.8.0 to 2.0.0 are the mainstay but visitors taking a few bigger samples to 5.0.0.

A mixture of overnight frosts and sunshine on Redworth's Jubilee Lakes testing anglers skills yet there were 5 huge double figured rainbows off this top local commercial trout fishery which has a tremendous reputation for big specimens.

Shotton's Jim Stafford selected a black buzzer to grass the heaviest of 16.9.0. Rod average 3.1.
