County Super League: Shildon A went down to their first defeat of the season when the visiting Crook B won by six points. Crook B had two wins from Darren Tinkler, Cliffy Owens, Johnny Mason and Les Scott whilst Gavin Witton and David Stephenson added one each. Shildon A had wins from Paul Willey, Paul Armstrong, Michael Hoggart and Andrew Tennant.

Shildon B had a good away win when they beat Tow Law by four points. The Shildon side had two wins from Dominic Hannon and Ian Sanderson with one each from Nigel Hall, Paul Fodden, Colin Bell, Chris Coulson and David Waites. Tow Law replied with two wins from Shaun Umpelby and one each from Tommy Sloan, Andrew Burrows and Stephen Turner.

Crook A beat the visiting Durham A by six points. The home side had two wins from Jim Ainsley, Neil Campbell, David Haygarth, Aaron Cowan and Michael Burke. Durham A had two wins from Ben Bowan and one each from Lee Holdsworth and Dave Ferguson.

Early leaders Ferryhill slipped up at home but still remain top of the league when the visiting Aycliffe forced a 7-7 draw, whilst Spennymoor had their first win in the league when they travelled to Bishop Auckland and won 12-2.

Bishop Auckland and District League

The unbeaten records of Spennymoor Ash Tree and Tow Law Station were both lost when they met other challengers for the league title.

The Ash Tree visited reigning champions, Crook Olde Horse Shoe and went down by five points. The Shoe had two points from Dave Walker, Johnny Mason and Cliff Owens with Gavin Witton adding one, whilst the visitors replied with two points from Stephen Jones and one from Steve Hunter. The Shoe added the doubles through Cliff Owens and Johnny Mason before Gavin Witton and Paul Biddle took one point each from the captain's games.

Crook Coach and Horses A are now the only unbeaten team in the league after they ended Tow Law Station's run with a three points away victory. The Station had one point each from David Craggs, Andrew Burrows, Anthony Hird and Shaun Umpelby whilst the visitors had two points from Michael Burke and one each from Les Scott, Neil Campbell, Lee Scott and David Haygarth. Neil Campbell and Michael Burke added the doubles with David Craggs and les Scott sharing the captain's points.

The Ash Tree are three points clear of the Coach and Horses and the Station with Bishop Auckland Snooker B and Henknowle Manor A a further six points adrift.

Ithe first round of the League Knockout Cup the three results all reflected the final placings of the teams in the league table. The results were Bishop Auckland Bay Horse 2 Spennymoor Hillingdon 7; Bishop Auckland Grand 'B' 7 Bishop Auckland Green Tree 3; Bishop Auckland Manor 7 Bishop Auckland Grand 'A' 3.

The draw for the next round is Spennymoor Wheatsheaf v Spennymoor Hillingdon; Bishop Auckland King's Head v Spennymoor Victoria; Bishop Auckland Grand 'B' v Spennymoor Voltigeur; Bishop Auckland Derby v Bishop Auckland Manor.

Spennymoor League

The Black Horse and the Quinns Inn jumped up to share the top spot one point ahead of the Voltigeur, who lead the North Eastern by three points.

Spennymoor Football Club came through a tough home game against Low Spennymoor Victoria with a four points victory. The footballers had singles wins from Terry Cairns, Colin Casey, Steve Horner and Geoff Brown, whilst Ian Campbell was the only winner for the visitors. The footballers took both doubles through Cairns with Stephen Wall and Ian Brown with John Ivey. The Vic's Andy Husband took the captain's point when he beat Geoff Brown.

Crook Individual League

The big money individual competition begins at 7.30pm in Crook Coach and Horse on Monday, March 31 with the first weeks matches being James Ivil v Stephen Burke; David Stephenson v Richard Walker; Michael Burke v Darren Tinkler and Aaron Cowan v Neil Campbell.

The remaining players come into action a week later with the matches being Lee Cullinan v Lee Scott; Adam Martin v John Mason; David Craggs v David Haygarth; Stephen Heyes v Les Scott.

Durham and District League

The top two teams met at the Stateside Consett with the Stateside winning by nine games to four. Dave Harrop starred for Stateside by winning all his three games one of which was an eight ball clearance. Alan Kavanagh added two wins with Kevin Rainbow, Alan Hogarth, Rob Hogarth and Colin Armstrong all scoring one win each. Durham Snooker Club replied with one point each from Gary Carr, David Jones, Andy Seal and David Harrison.

Crook Town League

Newly-promoted, Willington Market visited reigning runners up, Crook Travellers Rest B and put up a very good performance before going down by two points. The Travellers had two points from Neil Campbell and Michael Burke with Mick Hill, Doug Bowey and Jim Ainsley scoring one each to add to the doubles of Burke and Bowey. The Market had two points from Gary Trow and one each from Dave Tobbell, Stuart Shillan and Micky Toward with Ian Moore joining Toward to take the doubles.

Two newcomers to the Second Division both avoided defeat when they met and ended all square. Willington Brewer's Droop entertained Crook King's Head with the home side scoring two points from Stephen Britton and one each from Stuart Wayman, Billy Wragg, Tony Atkinson and Jimmy Gallagher. The King's had two points from Kevin carter and Carl Maddison with Stephen Gill and Steve Carruthers adding one each. The doubles were shared with Billy Wragg and Stephen Britton winning for the home side and Dave Brown and Stephen Gill replying.
