Bull's Head 1 v 2 Middlesbrough PO: Middlesbrough PO had to come from behind to pick up the three points after Simon Nelson had run through to give the Bull's the lead. It was not until well into the second half that Post Office hit back when Paul Leonard's corner kick was stabbed home from close range by Steve Dalton. With Jamie Duffy turning in a man of the match performance in midfield, the Posties continued to press and they got their reward 15 minutes from time when good work from Cody and Cramer left Paul Davies to score. The Bull's might well have taken something from the game when they were awarded a penalty with five minutes to go but good judgement from keeper Alan Wrigglesworth saw him diving the right way to turn the ball away for a corner.

Coulby Newham LF 1 v 4 The Gren.: The Grenadier rarely looked in trouble from as early as the fifth minute when they took the lead from the penalty spot and with only ten minutes on the clock, they got the cushion of a second goal. Two more goals early in the second half completed the scoring for the visitors with Coulby's solitary reply coming late in the match when Neil McGloughlin volleyed home from the edge of the area.

Black Horse 1 v 2 South Bank United: When Gary Naylor gave South Bank United the lead in the first minute, the stage looked to set for another goal rush against the leagues bottom side. The Black Horse however soaked up United pressure and saw three good chances going begging that could very easily have produced an interesting scoreline at half time. As it was, just a single goal seperated the sides at the break but it took United just a minute of the second half to go further ahead when substitute Peter Truscott found the back of the net. Almost immediately, the Black Horse struck back when Ged Moran slotted the ball through for Kirk Harrison to score. South Bank United were well on top for much of the remainder of the game but the closest they came to scoring was in the eightieth minute when Naylor rattled the woodwork.

Ennis Sq. 2 v 2 Redcar Coke Ovens: After beating league title faviourites Thornaby Mandale last week, Redcar Coke Ovens looked to be on their way to another three points when they scored twice within a minute to go in front against Ennis. The home side were not to be outdone however and reduced the arrears shortly before half time when Stephen Lee Gent beat two defenders before firing low to the keeper's left. Ennis continued to have chances after the break but it was not until ten minutes from time that they got back on level terms when Richard mason ran through the Coke Ovens defence before chipping the keeper from 20 yards.

Arthur Reed Memorial Shield semis - B&H King's Head 2 v 2 St. Mary's College OB, St. Mary's College go through 3-1 on penalties: The King's Head began to shade it, but then, against the run of play, the College took the lead when they capitalised on a defensive error that led to Mark Elliott chipping the keeper from distance. Early in the second half the game erupted with three players - two from the College -getting their marching orders and King's Head eventually made their man advantage count when Brian Crawley got on the end of a centre from Paul Round to take the game to extra time.

Mark Smith's powerful header put the King's Head in front for the first time in the game but the College drew level minutes later when Mark Allinson scored from the penalty spot.

In the end it was penalties that decided the tie when two misses from the King's Head together with a Malcolm Straker save were enough to see the College go through.

Stock. Elementis 0 v 2 Thornaby Man.: Despite their lowly league position, Stockton Elementis put up determined resistance against high flying Mandale but it will be the Thornaby side who meet St. Marys after two first half goals settled the tie.

Andrew Dyson scored from an acute angle after ten minutes and five minutes from the break, it was Dyson's well flighted corner kick that Craig Duncan fired home from fifteen yards out.

Both sides put together some good approach work in the second half but the scoreline remained unchanged as defences held out.

Wilf Leader Trophy semi-final - Woodman's Arms 1 v 1 Thornaby Vill., Woodman's go through 4-2 on penalties: Although they have struggled near the foot of the table for much of the season, the Woodman's Arms always seem to find an extra gear when it comes to cup games.

With a place already booked in the Cliff Wells Trophy final, the Woodman's made it through to their second final although they needed penalties to settle a closely fought contest against Thornaby Village.

The Village got off to a flying start going in front in the first minute following a succession of corners.

For the opening 15 minutes the Village looked good value for their lead and they they might well have increased their lead but for the intervention of the woodwork.

The Woodman's gradually came back into the game, hitting the woodwork themselves through Steve Sherringham before equalising when Ian Rodgers latched on to a through ball from Micky Greenup before finding the back of the net.

The second half and extra time produced lots of endeavour from both teams but no goals leaving a penalty shoot out to decide the contest.

Woodman's keeper Craig Sharp saved the first Village spot kick and after the Village's fourth attempt came back off the post it was left to John Mothersill to fire home the decisive goal.

The Woodmans will now meet the winners of the semi-final between South Bank United and North Skelton.
