Goldsborough v Brotton WMC

With the game concentrated in the middle third of the field the first 20 minutes saw very few chances. Brotton took the lead on 30 minutes when a ball from the left saw Peggs unmarked in the box and his shot from 10 yards beat the Goldsborough keeper. Goldsborough almost equalised immediately when Dent chipped the ball from the edge of the box to beat the keeper but land thr wrong side of the upright. With 5 minutes of the first half remaining Scott won through to increase Brotton's lead and give them a cushion to go into the second half. Both sides created chances early in the second half but it was Brotton who scored again through Scott. Goldsborough battled to gain a consolation goal in the 80th minute when a free kick from Butler hit the bar and Welford was on hand to tap in the rebound. Brotton held on to keep their championship hopes alive.

Grosmont v Boosbeck Utd

Boosbeck were the first to threaten with Wilson running through the Goldsborough defence but failing to hit the target, In the 8th minute a corner by Craig Winter was headed towards goal by Russel to be cleared off the line by a Grosmont defender, the ball was then headed to Clapton who paced it firmly past the stranded keeper. Grosmont levelled when confusion in the Boosbeck defence resulted in a free kick which was firmly struck by Jobling, the Boosbeck keeper was unable to hold on to the ball and Scott scored from the rebound. This seemed to spur Grosmont and when a corner was not cleared, Scott gave them the lead. Boosbeck levelled before the break. A good piece of midfield play involving Clapton and Wilson resulted in Thompson picking up a pass for him to run at the Grosmont defence and shoot past the helpless keeper. In the second half the Grosmont keeper made some very good saves thwarting the rampant Boosbeck forwards. In the 71st minute Johnson broke down the left and placed a shot by the oncoming keeper. Grosmont were limited to chances as the Boosbeck defence held firm and in the last minute of the game Boosbeck made sure of the points when Wilson placed the ball past the oncoming keeper.

Hinderwell v Lingdale Tavern

Hinderwell started well when Gary Sivills forced a good save from Moore in the Lingdale goal in the 13th minute. Lingdale began the second half strongly but defenders, Morrison and Havery kept them at bay until the 70th minute when Darcy played Breckon through to round the keeper and complete his hat trick and round off a man of the match performance. Hinderwell continued to battle but were unable to break through Wright and Hood in the Lingdale defence.

Whitby Fishermen v Highland Laddie

A competitive game played in warm sunny conditions saw Highland Laddie come away with all three points. Whitby started brightly and had three good early chances to take the lead, but good defendingalong with Whitby's nervousness in front of goal meant the game remained goalless. Highland Laddie played with more confidence and after testing Whitby keeper, Walker on a number of occasions, Burns finally bundled the ball over the line, due to Whitby's inability to mark from set pieces. Just before half time a good break down the right saw a great cross from Brown converted by Draper with a solid header to equalise. The second half was fairly even with both teams creating chances, however sides appeared to have settled for a draw. The game was turned on it's head when a hotly disputed sending off of a Whitby player, with just 10 minutes remaining, handed the initiative to the Laddie who began to use the extra man to great advantage. With 5 minute left Burns netted his second, somewhat controversially, when two players appeared to foul the defender as the goal was scored. Fishermen's again had nothing to show from a battling performance and were left to rue their missed chances.
