Senior Men - Division One: Durham and Cleveland finished third in the play-off group to decide one team to be promoted to the Premier Division next season. They beat Warwickshire but lost to Shropshire, the host county, and East Scotland.

The very tight group, only to be expected, saw each of the four counties collect between 25 and 30 points in total, largely meaning the win bonuses decided the final order of merit.

An under-strength D and C side were further misfortuned as the second and third string players Gareth Lumsdon and Ben Rickerby were held up by a serious road accident on the M6 just north of the venue in Bridgnorth on day one, were unable to use any other route, and arrived just in time for the evening session. Not only their matches were conceded to the Scottish region, but the rules meant also the fourth and fifth string contests, although played, were declared void, in this opening fixture.

Yawar Abbas, able to play, won his match at number one. But his three points were all the county earned. The two late arrivers were obviously fresh to play the second match, and each won in the 3-2 defeat by Shropshire. Andy Cross chalked up two points and Abbas one more in the 9-10 result. The first two rubbers were shared but the local county won the next two before Lumsdon managed a second success for D and C.

D and C did have the consolation of beating Warwicks in the final match.
