It was probably the best game that Norton Under-17 A team have played all season. Both Norton and Wolviston were very committed and played some quality football with several near misses at both ends. Catchpole almost capped an excellent performance by scoring his first goal for Brompton but blasted over while Brompton's defence held firm to secure the points with a 2-0 win. No man of the match was awarded as this was an excellent team performance.

Richmond Town

THE Under-12s are Richmond and District Junior League champions and last weekend recorded their 12 successive victory at home to Thirsk winning 3-2. The scoreline does not reflect the superiority of Richmond as several chances to extend the lead further were not taken. In the first half Richmond could easily have scored a barrow-load of goals but the first half finished goalless. However, straight from the kick-off at the start of the second half Richmond took the lead with a superb volley from R Bastow and they extended their advantage moments later with a stunning goal scored by C Swainston from the half way line. Midway through the half Thirsk scored but this was quickly cancelled out as C Swainston from the penalty spot after B Whiteside was upended. A goal in injury time from Thirsk could not take the sheen off another excellent display from Richmond Under-12s.

Richmond Under-15s were at home to Whinney Banks in the Teesside League Challenge Cup quarter-finals and won 3-0. Whinney Banks provided strong opposition and Richmond had to work hard for their win. Goals from C Cox, Taylor and Weighell. R Bainbridge was outstanding in defence and B Tack had another strong game in goal.

Richmond Town Under-14s were also at home in the Teesside League Challenge Cup quarter-finals and won 3-2 against Yarm. Due to injury and players being away Richmond could only field ten players which makes the result even more impressive. Richmond took the lead through N Fisher but Yarm quickly equalised from a corner. Richmond were lucky that Yarm kept missing chances but Yarm took the lead from a penalty before D Hillary equalised with his second consecutive goal in a cup match. Both teams then worked hard for that winning goal and Richmond's J Wooff scored a great goal which went into the top corner of the net sealing a great win for Richmond.

Richmond Under-13s played two home matches this weekend. On Saturday they played Linthorpe winning 5-0. The scoreline flattered Richmond as up until the last ten minutes there was only one goal separating the teams. Scorers were T Stanwix, T Keegan, S Hawkes (2) and G Love. On Sunday they were at home to Seaton Carew and won 2-1. Again the visitors made Richmond fight all the way for victory. T Keegan gave Richmond a first half lead and despite creating a number of good chances failed to increase their lead. Seaton Carew equalised early in the second half and both teams missed chances before T Stanwix scored the winner with less than ten minutes to go.

Richmond Under-11s were away to Darlington Albion and lost 1-0. Richmond had the better of the chances in the first half but failed to capitalise. The Albion keeper was the busier of the two up to half time and this continued in the second half. The Richmond forwards were having a quiet day and the Albion keeper coped with everything thrown at him. Halfway through the second half a through-ball got to the Albion forward who placed the ball out of the reach of L Newton. Richmond pressed for an equaliser with the introduction of J Woodall and J Heslehurst but this was without reward and the game ended 1-0. Man of the Match went to Z Jackson with another sound performance in defence.
