IF you are looking for entertainment that is pure energy then Boogie Nights could be the show for you.

Lively, funny and passionate, it was hard not to feed off the enthusiasm of the cast of this show, who at times, appeared to be enjoying themselves even more than the audience at Darlington Civic Theatre.

I was not sure what to expect, but within minutes of taking my seat I was already in fits of laughter thanks to the warm-up by comic Matt Slack, who plays Dean in the show.

The mixture of great songs, one-liners and impressive comic abilities of the cast, made for a fantastic night out.

Sam Kane shone in the lead role as Roddy, a young man with an eye for the ladies who breaks the heart of his childhood sweetheart, Debs, played by EastEnders star Sophie Lawrence.

The cheers were not just reserved for Sam Kane. Big Brother contestant Jonny Regan also proved a hit in his role as tough club boss Mikey.

But the real stars of the show were Hayley Tamaddon and Kev Orkian as clueless couple Terry and Trish. These two proved to be the perfect pairing and raised the most laughs.

As well as an excellent script, the show was complemented by a strong song list.

Boogie Nights runs until Saturday. For tickets, contact (01325) 486555.
