A TOPICAL play questioning the use of war photography is coming to the Darlington Arts Centre.

Unlimited Theatre presents Safety today and tomorrow, at 8pm.

The play looks at the UK's involvement in distant violent conflicts and the media's role in portraying events.

Director Jon Spooner said: "The point of the play is that there is always a war going on somewhere and the play is about how the images of conflict are used and how they are reported back through the British media.

"It is not an anti-news or an anti-war play, but we are in an age where information is more available and as consumers we have a responsibility to remember that the people that are reported about involve real human beings."

Safety was premiered at the Traverse Theatre for the 2002 Edinburgh Festival and is now on a national tour. Tickets are on sale priced at £8 from the box office on (01325) 486-555.
