Billingham Amateur Swimming Club enjoyed a fruitful day competing in a Northern Region Triathlon and Open Biathlon Competition at Queen Mary's School, Topcliffe at the weekend.

The biathlon consisted of a swim and run, both distances depending on age and the triathlon with a shoot of ten shots.

Guy Fawkes, head coach, performed superbly picking up first place in the Masters Triathlon and Biathlon and was awarded trophies for the best swim, run and shot. While Shirley Fawkes, not to be outdone, by her husband picked up first place in the Masters Ladies Triathlon and Open Ladies Biathlon.

Dad and daughter both performing brilliantly were Mark Wilson who came second in the Masters Triathlon. Whilst daughter Emma Wilson picked up first place in the Girls Youth B Triathlon.

Another family compilation mother and son were Gillian Sheehan, competing in her first Triathlon/Biathlon, performed admirably coming second in the Ladies Triathlon while Matthew picked up first place in the boys Youth B team.

Peter Riddle with an outstanding performance picked up first place in the Youth A boys and second in the Men's Open Biathlon.

In the Open Biathlon sisters both with excellent performances were Jane Usher who came second in the Ladies Open Biathlon and picked up best swim whilst Kathryn Usher picked up first place in the Youth D girls.

Competing in their first biathlon were sisters Catherine Goodman who picked up first position in the Youth E girls whilst Harriett Goodman was up third place in the Youth D girls.

In the Youth D boy's biathlon, performing well were Anthony Brown coming second and Craig Grounds third. Stephen Cook performing well came third in the Youth C boys.
