Inquest opened and adjourned

AN inquest into the death of a teenager who died after he fell from a motorbike was opened and adjourned yesterday. The family of Scott Spayne, 17, of Wrensfield Road, Stockton, gave evidence of identification to Teesside coroner Michael Sheffield so his body could be released for a funeral. He died of head injuries after the accident on Sunday at 12.30pm on wasteland off Ord Wingate Way. Police said he was not wearing a crash helmet. HILLS HIKE: Countryside wardens have organised a circular walk around the Eston Hills from the Guisborough Forest and Walkway visitor centre, at Pinchinthorpe, along the old railway and across to Quarry Plantation and Flatts Lane next Wednesday, from 10am to 3.30pm. The ten-mile walk will take in Eston Nab and Park Wood before returning via the Cross Keys. Stout footwear is recommended. Bring a packed lunch and drink. CLASSICAL CONCERT: Dutch organist Gert Jan Velders will join recorder player Jane Rumney to give a recital of work by 16th Century composer Jan Peterszoon Sweelinck and 20th Century composer Herbert Howells at a concert at Kirkleatham Parish Church, Kirkleatham, on Saturday.
