A VILLAGE school has become the latest recipient of National Lottery money in Hambleton to help increase opportunities for children. St Peters Brafferton CE School in Helperby has been awarded £500 by the Awards for All scheme. The money will be used to establish a range of extracurricular activities, particularly sports, with other schools in the area. TACKLE STOLEN: Holidaymakers staying at the lakes at Ellerton, between Richmond and Northallerton, were targeted by thieves during the Easter break. Fishing tackle, including rods and reels, were stolen from one caravan awning and a generator was stolen from another.

MISSING DIESEL: Diesel was stolen from the tanks of two lorries parked in a compound in Colburn over the Easter holiday. The theft was reported when the drivers returned to work yesterday. The stolen fuel has been valued at £400.

POLICE WARNING: Police are urging homeowners to be on their guard after a burglar stole a wallet from a house in Leyburn. It is thought the intruder entered the house and stole the wallet from the kitchen while the owner was elsewhere in the house.

Cash box taken: Thieves stole a Catterick market trader's cash box from a stall at the racecourse on Monday before escaping in a blue car.

SHOP THEFT: A Middleham shop has reported the theft of two sculptures during the town's Open Event. Racing stables opened to thousands on Friday, but someone took advantage of the crowds to steal a resin sculpture of a horse's head and another small statue from a Market Place business.
