MOTORISTS are being warned of traffic diversions ahead of major works that will result in the closure of Wooler Road, in Hartlepool, for one week from Tuesday, May 6, for sewerage work.

Diversions will take traffic travelling from the north via Hart Lane, Dunston Road and Elwick Road. The reverse will apply for traffic coming from the south.

ELIZABETHAN EVENING: An Elizabethan evening, featuring the Leeds Waits Renaissance Band, will take place at Yarm Fellowship Hall, West Street, Yarm, on Saturday, May 10, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 and include a three-course meal. There will be a licensed bar. All proceeds go to Yarm Parish Council Restoration Fund. Traditional costume is optional. TODDLER TARGET: Libraries in Stockton are encouraging parents to persuade their young children to read more books. SureStart Stockton has teamed up with Stockton Borough Council to target local parent and toddler groups and nurseries. They have recently opened an early years corner in Stockton Central Library and hope to improve on the 200 new library cards already issued since the scheme began in November last year.

COFFEE MORNING: Redcar United Reformed Church is holding a coffee morning on Saturday, May 10, from 10am to noon. Admission is 40p. There will be a cake stall and a bric-a-brac stand.

WHITE ROSE: The east Cleveland branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society will present The White Rose Singers at the Ann Charlton Lodge, Edenhall Grove, Redcar, on Wednesday, May 7, at 7.30pm. Admission is £2 at the door.
