HOMEBUYERS can see their apartments before they are built thanks to a virtual tour on CD.

Demand for George Wimpey's Crossgate Mews development is so high that apartments are being sold from the plans. Now the firm has come up with technological help for its customers.

It has produced a virtual CD, enabling them to see what the finished development and individual apartments will look like from the comfort of their own homes.

The CD guides buyers through the Durham site using a 3D fly-over of the development and individual apartments.

A location map and list of local amenities have also been incorporated to give people a feel for the surrounding area.

Sales executive, Lynn Atkinson, said: "People often find it hard to visualise a development from plans and because the site is in the first stages of build, I'm unable to show them around the apartments.

"The CD has been a great help, enabling me to talk through the layouts and actually show people what the apartments will look like when completed."
