AN expanding Teesside energy company is developing a partnership with a Newcastle software company to generate new business at power stations in the East Midlands.

Teesside Power Station operator px limited has been working with Tyneside firm Engica to deliver a training, support and after-care package for software systems being installed at West Burton and Cottam power stations in the Midlands.

The relationship between the two partners blossomed after Engica installed new computerised maintenance and management systems for px at the energy company's Seal Sands and Wilton sites.

Engica has used its work with px to win further contracts with London Electricity, which runs the West Burton and Cottam sites.

During the implementation phase, five px staff from the Teesside plants travelled to the Midlands to train staff on the new system, covering areas such as maintenance management, safety, procurement, materials control and finance.

"Winning contract work to help out power stations elsewhere in the UK is an integral part of our long-term strategy," said px business services manager David Henderson.

"But our work with Engica is proving a winner for North-East business and is the perfect example of how two local companies can work together to generate new business."
