COMPLAINTS about a rise in anti-social behaviour were raised when a police inspector attended Egglescliffe Parish Council's annual meeting.
Inspector Colin White attended the meeting to discuss the recently launched police community support service.
But he soon received a series of questions and complaints about increasing anti-social behaviour by youths in the area.
Examples given included damage to allotments, intimidation by gangs in the streets near the Tesco store and complaints about police response times.
One resident told Insp White he had contacted the police while witnessing a crime but had to wait 25 minutes before his call was answered by an operator.
Insp White said he would find out the reason for the delay.
On the issue of police response times he said the control room had to operate a system of prioritising calls to use the force's manpower as effectively as possible.
