YOUNG Jason Ferry and Chris Robson came face to face with Daisy the cow on a trip to a working farm.

The friendly friesian gave the County Durham youngsters a nuzzle as they toured Cockle Park Farm, in Northumberland.

The visit was part of a "bring your children to work" day organised by staff at the Asda supermarket in Stanley.

The group of children spent the day finding out how milk gets from the farmer to the supermarket.

They had a tour of the farm and even had the chance to milk the cows. They also saw the Arla dairy in Gosforth, Newcastle, where the milk is processed, then travelled back to Stanley to put the finished product on the supermarket shelves.

An Asda spokeswoman said: "The kids really enjoyed the day and it gave them a better idea of the dairy industry and what their parents do at work."
