Teesside Preparatory and High School, in Eaglescliffe, has been awarded gold in The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents awards 2003.

Every year schools and companies receive occupational awards from the charity after proving their excellence in managing all aspects of health and safety at work. This is the fifth year the school has been entered for the awards and is their third consecutive Gold Award.

PAINTING SKILLS: Stockton Borough Council's adult education service is running ten-week art courses at the Education Centre, Junction Road, Norton on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, Thursday afternoons and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. FRIENDS' THANKS: The League of Friends at Redcar's Stead Memorial Hospital wishes to thank all those involved in their latest fundraising events. A police band contest in February raised £332 and a Marske coffee morning this month made £220.

GROUP MEETS: A new airborne forces association is being launched in Middlesbrough. Paratroopers are invited to join the group, which will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, May 7, at the Cycling Club on Brentnall Street. They will then meet on the first Wednesday of every month.

TREASURE HUNT: A collector's fair will be held at the Rainbow Centre, Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, on Monday. It will take place from 10am to 4pm and admission is 70p for adults, 60p for pensioners and accompanied children go free.
