FOUR members of the same family have been awarded The Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for services to Redcar Lifeboat.

The members of the Cocks family were among 20 of Redcar's crew and officials to receive the medal. The family has contributed 111 years' service between them.

All continue to serve with the lifeboat station. Charles Cocks, station administration officer and former crew member, has contributed 55 years' service. His sons, Dave and Graeme, have 25 years each, and son-in-law, Tony Wheater, six years.

Dave said:"It is lovely that the voluntary emergency services are receiving these awards, and our family is very proud."

Dave Cammish, of Redcar Lifeboat, said that this was the first occasion on which the Queen had included representatives of the RNLI and search and rescue teams in the award.

They joined members of the police, Armed Forces, fire and ambulance crews, who received medals for the Jubilee.
