THE following cases were heard by South Durham magistrates sitting in Darlington yesterday:

GUILTY PLEA: Alexander Cargill, 23, of Wycombe Street, Darlington, admitted being drunk and disorderly in Hird Street, Darlington, on April 25. He was fined £50 with £55 costs.

CASE ADJOURNED: The case against Gianni Ross, 42, of Geneva Road, Darlington, who is charged with two counts of receiving stolen goods, was adjourned until May 20. He was granted bail.

CHARGES DENIED: Robert Royal, 19, admitted attempted burglary but denied two charges of criminal damage and failing to surrender to bail. Sentencing for the first offence was adjourned until May 29 and a pre-trial review was set for June 3. Mr Royal was granted bail on condition that he lives at an address in Geneva Road, Darlington.

DRUGS CHARGES: Shane Ward, 33, of Grasmere Road, Darlington, who is charged with possessing cannabis resin and possession with intent to supply, had his case adjourned until May 20.

CASE ADJOURNED: Steven Johnson, 36, of I'Anson Street, Darlington, denied damaging a motorcycle. The hearing was adjourned to June 10.

DRIVING OFFENCES: Brian Maughan, of Greenbank Road, Darlington, admitted three offences of driving without insurance, three of having no MoT certificate and three of obstructing a police officer. But he denied three counts of driving other than in accordance with his licence. The case was adjourned to June 3.

ASSAULT CHARGE: Lawrence Bainbridge, 30, of Smithfield Road, Darlington, is accused of causing grievous bodily harm. The case was adjourned until May 20. He was granted bail.

DRUGS ALLEGATION: Kenneth Weston, 23, of Coxwold Drive, Darlington, denied possessing cannabis resin with intent to supply. The case was adjourned to June 10.

KNIFE FINE: Lee Graham, 24, of Grange Road, Darlington, admitted carrying an offensive weapon, a lock knife, and was fined £50 with £50 costs.

DRIVING CHARGES: Christopher Cole, 19, of Mildred Street, Darlington, admitted driving without due care, failing to stop after an accident, driving without insurance and not in accordance with his licence, and failing to provide a breath specimen. Sentencing was adjourned until May 29.

BAIL GRANTED: David Newcombe, 35, of Trueman Grove, Darlington, was charged with causing actual bodily harm to Stephen Moules. The case was adjourned to June 3. He was granted bail.

OFFENCE DENIED: Andrew McCue, 29, of Aberdeen Road, Darlington, denied being in charge of a car while drunk but admitted resisting a police officer. The case was adjourned to June 10.

DAMAGE CLAIM: Lloyd Smith, 28, of Brighton Road, Darlington, was charged with disorderly behaviour and criminal damage. The case was adjourned until May 20.
