A radio station has been so successful it is to be given a second run in the autumn.

Pool FM 107.5 went off air this week after a four-week trial run, and staff say they have been delighted by its popularity.

Managing director Mark Page said: "We felt that our targeted town programming was just what was missing from the local airwaves, but we have been overwhelmed by the response."

The station provided a daily local radio news service, featured a local election round-up with senior politicians in the town, hosted a movie preview and a town centre roadshow, and entertained crowds at the Hartlepool United promotion party.

Station manager Donny Hughes said: "We will definitely be back on the air in the autumn as part of a regular series of broadcasts to bring Hartlepool its own radio station."
