Four men were still being questioned by Scarborough Police tonight after being arrested following an armed raid on a petrol filling station on Tuesday on the outskirts of the resort.

Streets on the South Cliff were sealed off for nearly four hours after police found the raiders' stolen getaway car and surrounded premises in Grosvenor Crescent.

Police said they had called in armed officers and a police negotiator to talk one of the men out of a flat. Two others had been arrested earlier and a fourth man was arrested today.

A police spokesman said the men were being questioned in connection with a number of matters including the raid on the Scalby Mills service station in Burniston Road.
