THE captain of a college football team has been presented with a trophy for his outstanding performances on the pitch.
Mitch Cameron, a student at Northallerton College, has led his under-19 football team to victory at the North Yorkshire County Cup and reached the final 16 in the English Schools FA Cup.
The talented midfielder, who has also captained the North Yorkshire under-19 team and had a trial with Derby County, hopes to go on to read a sports coaching degree at university.
The 19-year-old was awarded the David Dick memorial trophy for the most outstanding contribution to football by chairman of governors, Councillor John Dennis.
The college's joint head of PE Alistair Macrae said: "Besides being a good egg, Mitch is a very skillful midfielder who maximises his potential and gives one hundred per cent."
The trophy is given in memory of the college's former head of art, a big football fan, who died in 1999 at the age of 45.
