PEOPLE can sample some of the wonders of the scientific world at Teesside University this month.

As part of the Science is Great week, being staged at the university from Sunday onwards, people can explore the world of science on Sunday, June 22, from 11am to 4pm.

Among the experiences available will be a challenge, where visitors will be encouraged to use their skills and imagination to design, make and test an object on a flight theme.

People will also be able to see the Forces Science Show, where presenters from the Cardiff science centre Techniquest will demonstrate how forces affect the speed and direction of objects.

Starlab Planetarium, a journey of discovery of stars, constellations and planets, will be on show, as well as 12 hands-on exhibits from the Techniquest centre, including a Bernoulli blower, hydrogen rocket and wobbly bridge.

The event will be in the Constantine, Waterhouse and Sport and Recreation Buildings at the university.

Admission is £2 for adults, and £1.50 for children aged five to 15. There will be an additional charge of 50p for entry to the planetarium.

The event is organised by Setpoint Tees Valley, on behalf of the British Association for the Advancement of Science, and is supported by learn2work Tees Valley, Teesside University and the Cleveland Scientific Institute.
