FOOTBALL: Billingham CGS Wanderers are changing their name to become Norton and Stockton Ancients CGS Wanderers for next season.

The club have appointed ex-Sunderland star Colin Beesley as manager to succeed Ray Morton, who is to manage the Northern league Norton side.

Colin has been assistant for the last four seasons, and has new signings lined up including his brother Kevin and Ian Brooksbank, who are both playing for Wolviston Cricket at the moment.

John Adamson and Nathan Hulse from Billingham Owington Redstripe are expected to join the squad.

Player of the year for last season was striker Keith Corner, and Colin Steer recieved the league player of the year and the Players' player gong.

ATHLETICS: Hartlepool triathlete Felicity Beedle is again having a successful season.

She claimed a second place in the inaugural Peterlee Triathlon, first place in the Blyth Mini Triathlon, seventh in the European qualifiers at Swansea, and

third in the Royal Windsor Triathlon. She has also been selected to represent England in the Home Nations Championships at Bruce in Scotland on the 29th June.

FOOTBALL: Northern League club Norton commence training at Station Road on Tuesday July 8. All players old and new are asked to attend at 7pm.

Norton have arranged friendlies against Ferryhill away July 19 at 3pm; Easington CW July 26 at home 3pm, Dunston Federation on August 2 at home 3pm and Billingham Synthonia on Ugust 9 at home at 3pm.

WATER POLO: Durham City under 13 water polo team, formed only eight weeks earlier, gave a mature performance in winning 11-5 away to Catterick Cobras.

Durham City women's team had a comfortable 16-2 victory at home to Durham University. This was a particularly satisfying result as City included only two senior players in the side.
