TWO conservationists have been honoured with national environmental awards.

Henry Morphet, from Ingleborough, in the Yorkshire Dales, and Richard Chapman, from South Hylton, Sunderland, will receive the English Nature awards at a celebration lunch at this year's Royal Show, in Warwickshire, today.

The awards are made by the Government's wildlife watchdog to people who have protected a site of special scientific interest.

Mr Morphet is being honoured for his efforts to manage his farm for the benefit of wildlife.

Mr Chapman has managed to maintain a conservation site next to a housing estate in inner-city Sunderland, despite persistent vandalism.
