Richmond Golf Club is to hold its Junior Golf Open on Thursday, July 24 with entries open to boys and girls.

For the second consecutive year the open is being sponsored by Callaway Golf equipment, with an additional sponsor Keith James Jewellers for the girls section, a significant effort is being put in to make the girls section a success.

In the last three years the club has put a major effort into promoting Junior golf and especially girls golf, as the event moves forward the club would like to see the girls trophy become a major trophy in the girls event calendar.

At £1 an entry this represent exceptional value for money, entry details are available from Amy Lancaster at Richmond Golf Club 01748 823231.

The club would like to see entry's from all of the North East and Yorkshire golf clubs to make this a truly prestigious event.

Richmond Girls competed in the Yorkshire Girls Championships at Harrogate Golf Club, in total five girls represented the club: Laura Harvey, Rachel Thorpe, Victoria Gasgill, Jenny Boath and Kirsty Bastow.

All competed very well in hot and humid conditions. For two of the girls Rachel and Jenny it was their first time they had played 36 holes in one day.

Kirsty Bastow played well and went on to win the 18 hole event, which was a great success for Kirsty and Richmond Golf Club having the highest representation at the event. Hopefully next year the club will be able to increase that amount.

Laura Harvey is having exceptional year so far, although disappointed at the event at Harrogate, Laura's golfing year is far from over as she moves on to the National events. All at Richmond Golf Club wish her well in the future.
