Worthington Durham County CIU Summer League
Leeholme B finally broke their duck, as they became the last team to record a victory this season. Despite having to wait for it, they did it in style at Tow Law B. The home side opened with a win from John Wilson but from there the visitors took over. Mark Brown, Lee Todd, Glen Douthwaite and Dave Hudspeth all won to start the celebrations.
Wheatley Hill A produced their best performance of the season to whitewash the visiting Newhouse in the top match in the First Division. This victory lifts the Hill into equal second place with Shotton Palms, whilst pushing Newhouse down to share fourth spot with Newton Aycliffe. The winners for Wheatley Hill were Ronnie Peacock, Dave Walker, Alan Hall, Jack Wright and Dennis Clish.
Spennymoor A moved eight points clear at the top of the First Division after they only dropped one point to the visiting Sherburn Village, who had John Bower as their only winner. The Moors winners were Karl Welsh, Paul Atkinson with a 34 break, Paul Biddle with a 39 break and Michael Pratt.
Shotton Palms moved up to joint second following the home win over Brandon, whose only point came from Graham Jackson. The Palms had wins from Barry Hall, John Armstrong, Jimmy Evans and Paul Hickman.
Willington came away from Newton Aycliffe with an odd point victory after they had wins from Jeremy Martin, Arthur Goldsborough and Gordon Parkin. Marc Howe and Richie Young won for the home side.
Witton Gilbert took the first three points on their visit to Fishburn A to guarantee a victory. They had wins from Ian Renwick, John Rooney junior and Malcolm Peart. Fishburn replied by taking the two final frames through Wayne Oliver and John Griffin. Even though he lost, Fishburn and the rest of the league were delighted to see John Carter's return after a long lay-off through injury.
In the Second Division, Meadowfield opened out a four points lead at the top after they beat the visiting Spennymoor B in the decider. The home side were never headed as Stephen Hughes put them ahead only to see Alan Clarke level. John Jackson restored the home lead but Micky Anderson equalised. In the decider, Meadowfield's Malcolm Hughes beat Alan Rowell.
Crowtrees lost the chance of applying heavy pressure on Meadowfield after they went down in the decider at Crook Belle Vue. John Warriner put the home side ahead but then Crowtrees had wins from Sean Johnston and Steve Armstrong. However Harold Lomax levelled the scores and Pip Samson took Crook to victory by beating Martin Wolf in the decider.
Wingate moved up to share second place in the Second Division after they only dropped one point on their visit to Ferryhill. The visitors took the first four points through Dave Hammond, Jimmy Mason, John Bourne with a 52 break and Paul Harrison whilst Neil Spender prevented the whitewash by taking the final frame for the home side.
In a match of black ball fights, Durham City took the first three frames to beat the visiting Wheatley Hill B by the odd point. The City had wins from Michael Pratt, Barry Stoddart and John Davies whilst Philip Taylor and Tony Ellison replied for the Hill, who now share fourth place with Spennymoor B but just a point behind Crowtrees and Wingate.
In the Third Division's top of the table clash the visiting Bearpark came through to win in the decider at Coundon. Frank Nicholson put the home side ahead but Glen Morton and Alan Smith with a 42 break moved the visitors in front. Steven Bennett levelled the scores but then Bearpark's captain. Shaun Easter beat Stuart Neill in the decider. This leaves Coundon one point ahead of Bearpark at the top of the table.
New Durham moved four points behind Bearpark after they whitewashed the visiting Tow Law A with wins from Tony Thompson, Kevin Scullion, Thomas Cairns, Brian Birks and Gordon Bowes.
Hunwick moved into fourth place after they only dropped one point on their visit to Leeholme A, who had Barry Shaw as their only winner. The visitors had points from Trevor Lomax, Barry Fleming, Des Mason and Tom Ward.
Sacriston produced their best result of the season when they only dropped one point to the visiting Fishburn B. The home winners were Mark Appleby, Steve Bradley, Alan Richardson and Willy Nixon, whilst Barry Underwood saved the whitewash for Fishburn.

Bishop Auckland Golf Club were able to extend their lead at the top of the First Division after beating the visiting Darlington Riley's for the loss of only one point, whilst the second placed Darlington Cricket Club B went down to their A team by two points.
In the Second Division, Bishop Auckland Gents A held on to the top spot despite being held to a draw by their B team. Old Shildon moved into second following their good home win over Darlington Snooker B.

Richardson and Westgarth Pro-Am Tournament
The Richardson and Westgarth Club will stage the very popular pro-am competition this year.
This year's event will be the first pro-am event in the North-East to have a £1,000 prize to the winning finalist, making it the premier annual snooker event to be staged in the area.
The competition will be played on Mondays and Wednesdays, starting this Monday and finishing with the final on Monday, August 4. All games start at 7.30pm with the game quarter finals being the best of nine frames, semi-final and final the best of 11 frames.
This year's line-up will consist of many of the events favourites including P Davison (Pickering), D Craggs (Tow Law), M Rhodes (Durham), 17-year-old Gary Wilson (Wallsend), C West (Whitley Bay).
Among the higher profile players are P Lines and K Johal from Leeds, World ranked 1 McCulloch and S Rowlings (Preston). In the professional ranks are local lads J Birch (Middlesbrough) and M Dunn (Redcar).
World ladies champion Kelly Fisher (Carlisle), Local ex-world amateur champion Neil Moseley along with the highly rated J Michie (Pontefract) and finally two highly rated locals A Parson (Guisborough) and P Lawrence (Thornaby).
Professional referee Terry Riley along with local referees Alan Edmundson and Roy Jackson will be officiating the games.
The first games on Monday will be Jimmy Michie v Michael Rhodes and Kelly Fisher v Anthony Parsons.
