RSPCA Inspector Gill Corder, who works in the York area, has been presented with the Anderson-Plumbe award for her courage and conviction in difficult circumstances.
In the past year she has submitted ten case files, investigated 451 complaints, issued 62 verbal warnings and collected 99 animals.
OPEN GARDENS: Six gardens will open in Crakehall from 2pm to 6pm on Sunday. Admission is £2.50 for adults, accompanied children free. Afternoon teas will be available and there will be an exhibition of flowers in the church.
GUIDED TOUR: Ripon Cathedral will hold a guided tour, visiting Ripon's medieval hospital chapels, from 7.30pm on Thursday, July 17. Tickets are £1.50 for adults, and £1 for children. They are available from Ripon Tourist Information Centre on (01765) 604625.
GROUP WALK: A walk from Pateley Bridge to Fountains Abbey, near Ripon, retracing the steps of a monks' footpath takes place on Sunday, July 27, from 11am to 4pm. The event has been organised by the Yorkshire Dales Public Transport Users' Group.

FARMERS' MARKET: A farmers' market will be held in Ripon Market Place on Sunday, July 20, from 10am to 2pm.
QUINTET CONCERT: The Stray Brass Quintet will perform in Knaresborough's Castle Yard on Sunday, July 20, at 3pm.
BAND PLAYS: Northallerton District Silver Band will be in concert in Pateley Bridge recreation ground on Sunday, July 20, at 3pm.
