Darlington chairman George Reynolds has pledged his support to the town's three leading boxers and says he would love to see them fighting for a title at the Reynolds Arena, writes Craig Stoddart.

This Friday sees Argie Ward, Francis Jones and Oscar Hall on the bill at the town's Dolphin Centre and Reynolds, a keen boxing fan, says he will be in attendance to cheer on the ambitious fighters.

Yesterday the Quakers chief met Ward and Jones at Darlington's new home where Reynolds took time out to show them around the arena before inviting them to return, but next time he hopes to see them fighting at the new stadium in front of a full house.

Reynolds promised to place a bet on the pair winning this Friday when they fight at the Dolphin Centre, and hopes to see boxing matches at the Reynolds Arena in the future.

"Wouldn't be wonderful to have a boxing match in the stadium," said Reynolds who even has eyes on hosting a world title fight such as those held at the Newcastle Telewest Arena. "It would be great for town and the club if we could do that, and I'm sure the lads would enjoy fighting in front of 25,000 people."

Tickets for this Friday night are available, priced £20 and £30 for a table seat. For further details ring Mike Guest on 07966 347141.
