THOUSANDS of people are being given expert advice in giving up smoking.
At least 3,280 people managed to quit smoking on Teesside, last year. The Smoking Cessation Service, a service offered by Primary Care, helped more than 5,000 people to stop, and 62 per cent were successful.
Val Abbas, from the service, said: "There is more help available now than ever for smokers with a range of nicotine replacement therapies and the drug Zyban available on prescription."
