NORTH-East football clubs are helping cancer victims by contributing signed memorabilia for an auction.
Darlington, Middlesbrough and Newcastle football teams have signed shirts and footballs to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Co-operative Insurance, which has branches in Darlington, Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Stanley, has organised the auction.
Claims team leader Tony Towers said: "We hold a fundraising event every two years and this year we decided to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief. We are a society. We do not make any profit. We take premiums from people and we wanted to put something back into society, to say thank you to people and give something to the community."
The auction, at the Ramside Hotel, Durham, on August 23, will also feature gifts from McDonald's, Asda and a signed football from Century FM. The night will also include dinner and a raffle.
Two years ago the insurance company raised £5,300 for the County Durham charity, the Jennifer Trust.
